Service Description:
Careers, education, training and employment
Young People’s Support Services (YPSS), based at the Molson Centre Grimsby (Thesiger Street entrance – the side door where the green railings are) supports young people aged 13-19 (or 25 for those with additional needs) with information, advice and guidance about careers, further education, training and employment.

School age young people
Individual schools/academies are responsible for arranging independent and impartial careers guidance for the majority of students however YPSS will arrange to see some students between years 9 and 11 depending on their individual circumstances, for example young people with an Education Health Care Plan or children who are looked after by the local authority. If you have not met your careers adviser in school, you don’t attend school or would like to organise a careers appointment outside of school please contact YPSS. A careers interview can be undertaken in a variety of ways at a variety of venues, for example 1:1 appointments, telephone calls or through Microsoft teams meetings.

After you leave school
YPSS have a team of NEET Practitioners who support unemployed young people aged 16-18 (up to 25 if you have an active Education Health Care Plan or are/have been Looked After by the Local Authority) with finding and moving into suitable provision.

Making important decisions about your future can be difficult and if the plans that you had have not worked out it can be hard to think about what other options you may have. Or, if you have a problem that is preventing you from getting where you want to be it can be hard to know where to find support. This is where YPSS NEET Practitioners can help.
