Dads United
‘Dads United’ is a wellbeing project available for any dads aged over 16 who have children under the age of 18. The project takes a three-pronged approach- “Us as Dads, Me as a Dad, and Being a Dad”.

Dads can refer themselves or be referred by a professional they are currently working with. Dads may engage with any of the following three elements:

US AS DADS
Peer support group

A safe and comfortable environment for dads to come together to meet new people, share life experiences and offer guidance and support to each other.

ME AS A DAD
1-1 counselling and wellbeing support

Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a therapist listening and helping an individual reflect, process past events and work through emotional issues. A therapist’s role is not to offer opinion but to support an individual on their pathway to finding a greater understanding of themselves, and to offer effective coping mechanisms to achieve more balanced mental health and wellbeing. This is achieved in an environment that is safe, confidential, and non-judgemental.

YMCA counsellors are trained person-centred therapists, with some having additional qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Creative Trauma Informed Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy.
